| Customer Reviews: Does what it says it does August 15, 2010 Ziggster 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This computer does what it says. It is a powerful multi-tasking computer that easily handles programs like Office 2007, Open Office 3.2, Skype, ect... This is not built for 1080p movies. This built for multi tasking and using multi programs at one time. If you want program power, this does a great job. My Dell LCD flat screen works great and all of the extra USB ports are perfect. One month no problems, that is better than most PC's.
It's Fantastic August 18, 2010 chocolatepudding 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well its got a minor problem, the Hard Drive Power Cord is not plugged in out of the box, but seriously this is not a deal breaker, just plug it in yourself and it works!
So far so good its fast and quiet, just hope it'll last :D
Well . . . July 8, 2010 Carlos Gomez (St. Joseph, MO) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Original Review:
ONLY ONE WARNING FOR ANY THAT WANT TO BUY THIS . . . it DOES NOT have an HDMI port. It's just a DVI. Besides that disappointment I had when opening up my box, everything else has been spectacular and up to what I thought it could be. This computer is fast as hell straight out of the box. I only get one bar of wireless internet in the room where the computer is, and yet I still downloaded iTunes within ten minutes, while watching Youtube videos and pulling data from an external hard drive. I'm about to install some RTS games which I know it will handle nicely, but according to the Windows Experience, you will probably want to get a dedicated video card for this if you want it to be a game machine. The RAM and processor, however, are more than enough for anyone wanting to watch videos online or multitask several operations. Also, a change in sound card may be necessary, as so far there is an occasional hiccup in audio but I don't know if that may be caused by not having speakers plugged in (25 dollar Koss earbuds now), or just the sound card quality. Overall, I am incredibly pleased with my purchase.
After One Month:
I must redact my statement that the video connection is DVI, it is in fact VGA only. I'm sorry about that. After having the computer for about a month, I must say that I have had a disappointing experience. After I began to install programs, the computer would only boot every three times I tried. Obviously, I had to restart with most of the programs I was trying to install, so the problem was constant until one point in which the computer absolutely would not boot past the Acer start screen. I looked online to see if it was a windows 7 problem or an Acer malfunction, finally coming to the conclusion (after opening the case) that it was simply shoddy manufacturing, as the cables connecting the HDD were loose along with the carriage screws that held it in the case. Also, the dvd drive didn't work straight out of the box, but I didn't really notice right away because I was only concerned with getting online immediately. The power cable was completely disconnected from the drive. Acer customer service was no better than any other outsourced service and couldn't even offer me a recovery disc because the computer model was "brand new" and discs had supposedly not been manufactured by Acer yet. The service rep told me to call a couple weeks later if I wanted a recovery disc.
To put it simply: when the computer boots correctly, I have a great time with it. It's fast, has a ton of storage, and is whisper quiet, but the obvious manufacturing miscues lead me to believe that Acer doesn't care a whole lot about building quality PCs.
Buyer Beware! July 17, 2010 Ken 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased this computer based on the comments of the previous reviewer; however, he was completely wrong about the video ports. This computer has NO DVI or HMDI video ports, only VGA(D-Sub) which means I can't use my 24" LCD monitor w/o spending an extra $100+ on a DVI/HDMI video card.
