They don't really make PC's anymore that use this type of RAM but it's good for those who need it and at a solid price.

5 out of 5 stars Squeeze New Life Out From Old Boxes   August 20, 2010

8 years ago I bought one of those under-$200 Microtel PC's sold by a major retailer as a second PC for my wife. She finally upgraded and I inherited the box. At 800 Mhz, the machine is still useful as a Linux box, backup server, isolated malware lab, etc. I'd forgotten it came with only 128 MB of RAM but fortunately the VIA chipset supports up to 1GB.

If you have an old machine many of the memory sellers on Amazon have a feature on their sites that will scan your chipset and tell you the max supported memory.

You just know when they snap in place just right that they're going to work and that was the case here. Fired right up.

At around $35 for two 512's, it's a good price for a domestic seller. To tell the truth, I wouldn't have spent more than $40 with off-brand PC's so cheap these days.

Feeling nostalgic for the good old days? Upgrade that baby, blow the dust off those OS2 Warp diskettes, and start feeding 'em in!

I received the memory stick in less time than expected and it worked fine. Thanks!

5 out of 5 stars Does what it's supposed to - for cheap!   September 9, 2010

Have had this installed for about 3 weeks now with no issues whatsoever. It's hard to believe that I can double the RAM on my old crappy PC and vastly improve its performance for a mere $18. Fantastic!

I had an old Dell with 512MB RAM on which I run Linux, and really needed to bump it up to 1GB to run the apps I wanted. PC133 memory is getting a little difficult to find, and some vendors really charge a premium for it. For the price, this looked right. I popped it in, it worked fine, and I've extended the working life of my system for 2 or 3 years at minimal expense. Of course, you will need to make sure that your machine requires PC133 memory, or you will have wasted your time/money.
